POD 1997 PC Game Review. POD is a 1997 futuristic racing PC game. Remember when there was loads futuristic racing games back in the day? You’ve got your wipEouts, your F-Zeroes and among them all you’ve got POD. The reason I remember the POD PC game so well is that we got this game free with our first family PC.

When the Pentium 2 came out, a big deal was being made over MMX technology. We got a Pentium 2 PC with a bunch of bundled software optimised for MMX processors. Amongst them was this futuristic racing PC game by Ubisoft, POD. Mate, this game. It blew my mind. I remember thinking it was the coolest thing. Crisp 3D graphics, CD quality sound and music; it had it all. The worst part about POD PC game though is that because it was so optimised for MMX processors it basically didn’t work on anything but. Since my parents scrapped that Pentium 2 PC, I never played POD again. One of the reasons I built my MMX Pentium 3 retro gaming PC was because I wanted to run POD PC game….

    Yeah you want POD Gold .Software rendering on the other versions doesn't look so nice in fact it looks ugly.

  5. We got POD in the late 90s free with our PC. Playing it 20 years later and you know what, it's still good! You can get POD Gold on GOG now and I'd recommend giving it a go.
